The fifth Conference & sixth Working Meeting of China-Argentina Food Science and Technology Center was held in Beijing

    On September 26 and 27, the 5th Conference & 6th Working Meeting of China-Argentina Food Science and Technology Center was held in Beijing. Ms. María Eugenia Godoy from Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of Argentina, Argentina director of China-Argentina Food Science and Technology Center Dr. María Cristina Añón, deputy director of International Cooperation Department of CAAS Dr. Zhang Huijie, Secretary of the Leading Party of IFST Dr. Wang Changjiang,Director Assistant of IFST Dr. Zhang Dequan presented in the meeting. More than 50 research experts from China and Argentina research institutes, universities and entrepreneurs attended the meeting.
    Dr. Wang Changjiang gave warm welcome to the participants of the meeting and expressed sincere thanks to the administrative offices. He said, “The China-Argentina Food Science and Technology center is built by the bilateral governments and is one of the most important international platforms for IFST. Through years of development, a lot of achievements have been made by the experts of the center in the area of plant and animal protein processing, food safety and food traceability, which also promote the development of the food industry and commerce. IFST would like to push forward the collaboration with Argentina in the future.” Dr. María Cristina Añón expressed the will of Argentina side to move forward of the collaboration with IFST and successful transfer of the research achievements to industry. “The work of the China-Argentina Food Science and Technology Center is successful and the International Department of CAAS will continuously give support the work of the center.” said Dr. Zhang Huijie, at the opening ceremony of the meeting.

    Experts made lectures on the topics of plant protein processing and utilization, protein extrusion, meat and bone protein processing and utilization. In the session of plant protein processing and utilization, on the basis of antitumor activity of sweet potato protein and its peptides, the cooperation research on the metabolism of sweet potato protein and the biological activity of its peptides, the antiproliferation of amaranth proteins and peptides on human colon and breast cancer cell lines have been carried out. In the session of protein extrusion, the effect of thermal transition properties of material on the texture properties of extruded texturized vegetable protein has been investigated. Formula of balance nutrition with texturize vegetable protein has been developed. Some of the research achievements are transferring to the food industry. In the session of meat protein processing and utilization, the mechanism of water migration, water-protein interaction of aired drying meat during warm air drying has been revealed. The proteomics of inactivation of E.coli by DPCD has been investigated, and the influence of DPCD on beef quality has been studied. The sterilization and color improvement of beef under HPP have been elucidated clearly. Besides, on the bone protein processing and utilization area, progresses have been made in the key technology of high value processing of edible bone and blood, and realized the industrial application of bone processing.

    In the working meeting of the Center, the two parties agreed to continue the collaboration in the areas of plant and animal protein processing and utilization, food traceability, and start collaboration in the area of food nutrition and health, and enzyme production and utilization for food industry. Dr. Wang Changjiang and Dr. María Cristina Añón signed the agreement in the end of the meeting.

    On September 28, the Argentina delegation visited IFST and Beijng Haileda Food Co., Ltd.
